Welcome

Scotland's North Coast 500 is a rollercoaster road of ruined castles, pristine beaches, dramatic cliffs, and awesome villages. On this 4-day tour from Inverness, you explore all of it in the comfort of an Environmentally friendly Tesla Model 3 with AWD

4 Day Tour

Day 1 = Inverness to Ullapool

Rogie Falls

Rogie Falls has a ceries of lovely walks on the Black Water which you can follow to see the waterfall that is famous for salmon viewing. There are plenty of waymarked walks and seating at a viewpoint overlooking the falls.

Applecross Pass ( Bealach na Bà )

is a winding single track road through the mountains of the Applecross peninsula. The Bealach na Ba is just one feature on this road, being its highest point and site of several corries.  The historic mountain pass was built in 1822 and is engineered similarly to roads through the great mountain passes in the Alps. It has the steepest ascent of any road climb in the UK, rising from sea level at Applecross to 626 metres (2054ft), and is the third highest road in Scotland.

Ullapool

The picturesque fishing town of Ullapool, nestled on the shores of Lochbroom, is a great gateway to the Northern Highlands.

Situated in one of the least spoilt natural environments in the UK, the town boasts a wealth of things to see an do.

Stay Overnight at Ullapool

accommodation to be decided (ask for details)

Day 2 = Ullapool to Tongue

Kylesku Bridge

Kylesku Bridge in Sutherland has been awarded category A status by Historic Environment Scotland after it was recognised as being of special architectural interest.

Smoo Cave

This 50 ft (15 m) high sea cave is the largest coastal cave in the UK and really has to be seen to be believed. Smoo cave is set into limestone cliffs at the eastern end of the village of  Durness and can be reached by a purpose-built pathway. See the  impressive waterfall inside, which falls some 80 ft into the cave.

Sango Sands

With its cliffs, rocks, and sand dunes this is one of Scotlands most spectacular and varied beaches.

Castle Varrich

Castle Varrich or Caisteal Bharraich is a crumbling old tower house of the Mackays, in a beautiful rugged spot. 20-30 minutes walk up the hill from Tongue. The views are stunning, perhaps one of the most stunning locations on the NC500.

Stay Overnight - at Tongue

Day 3 = Tongue to Inverness

The Castle and Gardens of Mey

The Queen Mother acquired the Castle of Mey in 1952.  She renovated and restored it and created the beautiful gardens you see today. It have held highest award of a 5 star quality assurance grading every year.

Duncansby Head & John o' Groats

Duncansby Head is the most northeasterly part of the British mainland.

John o' Groats is a village 4 kilometres northeast of Caithness, in the far north of Scotland. It is not the northernmost point of Great Britain, which is the nearby Dunnet Head.

Dunrobin Castle, Sutherlands

Dunrobin Castle is the most northerly of Scotland's great houses and the largest in the Northern Highlands with 189 rooms. Dunrobin Castle is also one of Britain's oldest continuously inhabited houses dated back to the early 1300s, home to the Earls and later, the Dukes of Sutherland.

Dolphins (fingers crossed)

Chanonry Point is one of the best spots in the UK to view bottlenose dolphin from the land. The dolphins are often visible off Chanonry point, particularly on an incoming tide when they play and fish in the strong currents. Other wildlife, including porpoises and grey seals, can also regularly be spotted. European otters are occasional visitors.

Back to Inverness

An Extra Day? This would be taken on Day 3 pushing the Tour back a Day

The Isle of Skye, connected to Scotland's northwest coast by  bridge, is known for its rugged landscapes, picturesque fishing villages  and medieval castles.
